I’m looking for anyone and everyone interested in learning how to set up a self-hosted install in a free WordPress workshop!
After reading through several conversations on Facebook and other places, I’ve noticed there are a lot of people struggling because they just don’t get it. I’ve been using WordPress over 10 years now, so I figure I can probably be of some help to these people.
I’ve decided to host a live WordPress workshop so people can watch as I explain how easy it is to use self-hosted WordPress. I’ll also show you the best settings and plugins to use for customization, SEO, and maintenance.
If you’d like to attend a live group learning session, please let me know you’re interested. I’m looking to do the first workshop later this month (February) on a Saturday and if it goes well, I’d love to do more!
WordPress Workshop Topics
I’d like to cover the following with the workshop:
- Choosing the best host for you
- Installing on your host
- Best WordPress settings
- Installing themes and plugins
- Recommended plugins
- Writing a good post
I’d like the whole thing to be about an hour, so I made need to have some quick pre-session videos available covering the first two topics. I really want the time to be spent showing and helping people with a hands-on demonstration.
Wait, did you say hands-on?
Yes! Honestly, I’ve found that the best way to learn things (especially tech things) is to just dig right in. So I’ll be showing you how can try out WordPress without having to spend any money upfront. That way, if you find you hate self-hosted WordPress, you haven’t taken any risk. If you love it, you’ll know to use it when you’re ready.
Remember, there isn’t an exact date yet, but once a few people sign up, I’ll start arranging times and dates for workshops.
